Making an Initial Enquiry

  1. Before making an initial email enquiry via Senior Golf Exchange, write your proforma email, see a sample here (pdf), but please make sure you personalise every email with information gleaned from the Member Listing you are enquiring with.  This is particularly important if you are sending out multiple enquiries – make each one sound individual and specific.
  2. Read the Member Listing carefully and completely before sending off an initial enquiry.  It is very frustrating to receive an enquiry, which includes questions which clearly indicate you have not bothered to completely read the Listing first.
  3. It is perfectly acceptable to enquire about something that is contrary to what is stipulated in a Member Listing, provided your email clearly indicates you understand what you are asking for, differs from what is offered in the Listing.  For example, you may be attracted by a Listing offering a Home Exchange within a date range that is not convenient for you. If your email acknowledges this problem, but indicates your keenness to exchange, it may be the Members you contact are happy to accommodate a Hospitality Exchange at your time, or a non-simultaneous Home Exchange, but were not able to travel at the times you were looking for.
